How can we help others the most?

Effective Altruism KTH is a student association at KTH for people who take seriously the question of “What are the most effective ways I can help others?” We run courses, lectures, discussions and career events in which we investigate this question together and ultimately put our ideas into action.

What is effective altruism?

Effective altruism is a global movement and research field that asks how we can use our time and resources to help others as much as possible. It combines compassion with rigour: identifying the world's most pressing problems, and the interventions that make the largest difference, using the best available evidence.

The differences are large. Careful analyses find that the most effective interventions often achieve around a hundred times more than the average — per krona donated or per hour worked. Taking this seriously changes how you approach your donations, your studies and your career.

Critical thinking

We apply evidence and careful reasoning to determine the most effective ways to improve the world.
